Created to celebrate Glenfiddich’s partnership with the Aston Martin Formula One™ Team, this limited-edition 16 Year Old brings together two brands built around precision, craftsmanship and performance. Rather than simply putting F1 branding on a standard Glenfiddich release, Malt Master Brian Kinsman created a distinct whisky matured in a combination of American oak wine casks, new American oak barrels and second-fill bourbon casks.
The result emphasizes the sweeter, fruit-forward side of Glenfiddich while adding considerably more oak depth than the distillery’s younger core expressions. The nose opens with maple syrup, caramelized ginger, a biscuity cheesecake character and gently toasted oak. On the palate, fresh orchard and tropical fruits combine with vanilla and Chantilly cream in a silky, almost confectionery texture. The finish is exceptionally smooth and lingering, with persistent sweetness, soft spice and polished oak.
Despite the motorsport packaging, this is a legitimate age-stated limited release rather than merely a collector’s bottling. At 16 years old and 43% ABV, it offers an attractive middle ground between Glenfiddich’s standard range and its much more expensive prestige bottlings, with the Aston Martin collaboration adding obvious appeal for Formula One collectors.
