A polished, full-flavored expression of Sicily’s signature red grape, made from 100% Nero d’Avola grown around Niscemi in southeastern Sicily. The 2020 opens with blackcurrant, blueberry, ripe cherry and dark plum, followed by notes of sweet spice, dark chocolate, herbs and a lightly smoky, toasted character. The palate is rich and velvety but retains good freshness, with structured tannins and a savory, persistent finish. Wine Spectator rated the 2020 91 points, noting its combination of dark fruit, chocolate, iron, herbs and spice.
The wine belongs to Feudi del Pisciotto’s Grandi Stilisti designer-label collection. The distinctive Medusa label was designed by Donatella Versace as a tribute to the personality of Sicily and its wines. The estate's earlier 2015 Versace Nero d’Avola was included in Wine Spectator's Top 100.
