The region's diverse soils, ranging from clay-limestone to gravelly, provide the ideal conditions for cultivating this robust grape variety. The maritime influence from the Gironde estuary moderates the climate, ensuring a long, slow ripening period and resulting in wines with concentrated flavors and balanced acidity.
