Aglianico Casale del 700

Aglianico is a red grape variety primarily grown in Southern Italy, particularly in the regions of Campania and Basilicata. It is one of Italy's oldest grape varieties with a rich history that dates back to ancient times. Aglianico is known for producing full-bodied, complex, and age-worthy red wines.

Aglianico wines are typically deep in color, ranging from ruby to garnet. They often exhibit intense aromas of dark fruits such as blackberry, black cherry, and plum, along with notes of spices, earthiness, and sometimes a hint of leather. On the palate, Aglianico wines are characterized by high acidity, firm tannins, and a robust structure, which contribute to their longevity.

Strictly Kosher, not mevushal.

Aglianico grapes thrive in hot climates and volcanic soils, which are prevalent in the regions where they are grown. The volcanic influence imparts mineral nuances and a distinct character to the wines. Traditional winemaking techniques, including extended maceration and oak aging, are often employed to further enhance the complexity and depth of Aglianico wines.

There are different expressions of Aglianico wines, ranging from young and approachable examples to more age-worthy and complex bottlings.

When consumed young, Aglianico wines can be quite bold and tannic, benefitting from some decanting or aging in the bottle to soften and integrate their structure. However, they truly shine with age, often developing additional layers of complexity, earthiness, and tertiary aromas.

Aglianico wines pair well with rich and hearty dishes such as roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses. Due to their structure and acidity, they can stand up to robust and flavorful cuisines.
