Convalmore 36 year

Convalmore 36 Year Old is a rare single malt from one of Speyside’s lost distilleries. Produced in Dufftown and closed in 1985, Convalmore spent most of its working life contributing quietly to blends, making mature official single-malt releases exceptionally scarce. Bottled as part of Diageo’s Special Releases, this whisky captures a distillery that no longer exists at a point of remarkable balance and elegance.

After 36 years of patient maturation in predominantly refill American oak hogsheads, the spirit shows a refined, fruit-driven profile rather than heavy wood influence. Aromas of ripe pear, baked apple, honeycomb, and soft tropical fruit lead into a silky palate layered with orchard fruit, vanilla custard, gentle spice, and a subtle waxy depth. The oak is polished and integrated, supporting the spirit without dominating it.

The finish is long and poised, gradually drying with lingering fruit sweetness, light spice, and understated oak. More than an age statement, Convalmore 36 Year Old is a snapshot of a vanished Speyside style—quietly complex, beautifully mature, and increasingly impossible to replace.
