The Yamazaki 55 Year Old 46.0 ABV

Distilled in 1960 by Shinjiro Torii and in 1964 by Suntory's Second Master Blender Keizo Saji, aged in Mizunara and American White Oak casks, bottled in 2020, one of only 200 bottles.

On 21 August, 2020, Bonhams Hong Kong auction of Fine and Rare Wine & Whisky shocked the whiskey world when a bottle of this same Yamazaki-55 Year Old sold for $795,000.  It is the oldest expression of the prestigious Yamazaki whisky and the oldest Japanese whisky in history. The single-malt blockbuster was released  via a customer lottery system applicable only to residents from within Japan. Distilled in the 1960s and produced in an exceedingly-limited edition of 100 bottles, it is five years longer-matured than the coveted Yamazaki-50 Year Old, which has – on several occasions over the years – set the world auction record for a single bottle of Japanese whisky.
