Tobermory 27 yr Olorosso Sherry Cask Finish 53.1%

  • The new 27 yr from the old Isle of Mull distillery, est in 1798 and gloriously reopened

It's the only distillery on the Island, and despite the fact that most Islay scotches are peated, Tobermory is not.  Its water source is from a private loch near the Mishnish Lochs. Being on an island with a turbulent maritime climate, the whisky is influenced by sea air, island vegetation and the surrounding environment — which gives the spirit certain character traits.

The site uses traditional tools (e.g., mash-tun, copper stills) and has a relatively small-batch artisan approach compared to huge industrial distilleries.

The Tobermory 27 Year Old is the fifth and final release in the Hebridean Series, a limited edition of just under 3,000 bottles bottled at 53.1% ABV. Initially matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks before spending twelve years in González Byass Oloroso sherry casks, it offers rich layers of dark fruit, marmalade, honeyed nuts, and warm spice balanced by subtle maritime salinity. Unpeated and deeply expressive, it showcases the distillery’s fruity island style elevated by long sherry influence. Priced around £395, this rare release serves as both a collector’s centerpiece and a refined, full-bodied dram for special occasions.
