Benromach is a Scotch whisky distillery located in the Speyside region of Scotland. It was originally founded in 1898 by Duncan McCallum, but like many distilleries, it went through periods of closure and changes in ownership. In 1993, the distillery was purchased by Gordon & MacPhail, an independent bottling company with a long history in the whisky industry.
Gordon & MacPhail invested in renovating and reviving Benromach, and in 1998, the distillery was officially reopened by Prince Charles. Since then, Benromach has been producing a range of single malt Scotch whiskies, often with a focus on traditional methods and craftsmanship.
One of the notable features of Benromach is its commitment to producing a slightly peated style of whisky. While Speyside whiskies are typically known for their lack of peat influence, Benromach incorporates a touch of peat smoke in its production process, offering a unique and distinctive character to its whiskies.
