Don Julio Tequila Anejo 1942 Peggy Gou 80

Don Julio 1942 x Peggy Gou, officially styled Don Julio 1942 (“194Gou”), is a limited-edition presentation of Don Julio’s flagship 1942 Añejo created with Korean DJ, producer and fashion figure Peggy Gou. Released in 2025, it was the first global product collaboration in Don Julio 1942’s history. Importantly, this is not a different tequila formulation—the collectible element is the dramatic redesigned bottle and presentation, while inside is the familiar Don Julio 1942 Añejo.

The tequila retains 1942’s rich, polished profile, opening with warm vanilla, roasted agave and oak, followed by caramel, toffee and vanilla on the palate with touches of chocolate and roasted nuts. It is deliberately soft and luxurious rather than aggressively agave-driven, with a long, sweet finish of vanilla and seasoned oak. This remains primarily a sipping tequila, best served neat or over a large cube.

Peggy Gou Limited Edition

Peggy Gou reworked the familiar tall 1942 bottle in a striking mint/teal finish, with a reflective holographic “1942”treatment—the Korean character “구” is pronounced “Gou”—and an elevated chrome closure. The presentation box incorporates a hand-drawn Peggy Gou illustration and a personal message from her. The release was distributed only in limited quantities internationally and subsequently sold out at a number of Don Julio launch events, giving this edition substantially more collector interest than an ordinary 1942 bottle.

Cask / Aging Program

Don Julio 1942 is produced from 100% Blue Weber agave and aged for a minimum of 2½ years. The extended maturation is responsible for much of 1942's characteristic vanilla, caramel and warm oak character. The Peggy Gou edition uses the same Don Julio 1942 tequila and aging program; the collaboration is a limited-edition bottle rather than a special cask or alternate maturation release.
