Heaven Hill Heritage Collection 22 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the fifth release in Heaven Hill Distillery's prestigious Heritage Collection and, at 22 years old, the oldest bourbon ever released in the series. Distilled in February 2004 and bottled in 2026, this extraordinary limited edition was drawn from just 277 barrels and bottled non-chill filtered at its natural barrel strength of 129.2 proof (64.6% ABV). Despite more than two decades of maturation, the whiskey retains remarkable balance, showcasing Heaven Hill's ability to age bourbon to exceptional maturity while preserving elegance and depth. Produced in extremely limited quantities, the 2026 Heritage Collection stands among the distillery's rarest and most collectible modern releases.
The nose opens with luxurious aromas of butterscotch, dark caramel, toasted pecans, orange oil, honey, mature oak, pipe tobacco, leather, and polished antique wood. Layers of cinnamon, clove, dried cherries, and vanilla bean continue to evolve in the glass. The palate is exceptionally rich and viscous, delivering waves of maple syrup, brown sugar, dark toffee, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, candied citrus peel, espresso, seasoned oak, and baking spices. Despite its formidable proof, the bourbon remains remarkably composed, with mature oak providing structure rather than bitterness. The finish is extraordinarily long, warming, and elegant, lingering with notes of caramelized sugar, old oak, leather, dark cocoa, citrus oils, and sweet Kentucky spice.
Cask Program
The 2026 Heaven Hill Heritage Collection is composed of 277 barrels filled in February 2004 using Heaven Hill's traditional bourbon mash bill of 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley. The whiskey matured for 22 years in new charred American oak barrels before being bottled non-chill filtered at its natural barrel proof of 129.2. No secondary finishing or special cask treatment was employed—the focus is entirely on showcasing the remarkable concentration, texture, and complexity that develop through extended maturation under Heaven Hill's traditional aging program.
