Masso Antico Le Anfore - Rosso Salento

Masso Antico “Le Anfore” Rosso Salento IGT Bio

Masso Antico Le Anfore is an organically grown red from Salento in Puglia, made from Primitivo and Negroamaro and distinguished by an unusual two-stage maturation program. After hand harvesting, the wine is matured in cocciopesto amphorae—a traditional porous material that permits controlled micro-oxygenation—and then in French and American oak barrels

Deep ruby in color, Le Anfore is rich and enveloping, with aromas of vanilla, chocolate, roasted coffee and a distinctive whisky-like note over ripe dark fruit. The palate is full-bodied, smooth and rounded, balancing the generous fruit of southern Italy with spice, gentle tannins and a long, harmonious finish. The combination of amphora and oak gives this a considerably more complex profile than a typical everyday Salento red.
