Old Forester President’s Choice is the brand’s rarest ongoing bourbon expression, built aroundexceptional single barrels selected individually for maturity, complexity and character. The program traces its history to 1964, when Brown-Forman president George Garvin Brown II began offering private single barrels to customers—an unusually early example of the single-barrel concept in American whiskey. 

For the2026 release, the bourbon comes from individually selected barrels aged7 to 9 years, with each barrel bottled at its own strength between110 and 125 proof. Because this is truly a single-barrel release, the exactage, barrel number and proof are handwritten on each bottle and will vary from barrel to barrel. 

The style is classic mature Old Forester: rich caramel and vanilla over toasted oak, baking spice, dark fruit and cocoa, with the higher barrel-strength proof giving it considerably more depth and weight than the standard Old Forester lineup. Exact tasting character varies somewhat by barrel—that individuality is part of the point of President’s Choice.
