Gently sweet, unpeated and Floral
The new 12 yr from the old Isle of Mull distillery, est in 1798 and gloriously reopened
It's the only distillery on the Island, and despite the fact that most Islay scotches are peated, Tobermory is not. Its water source is from a private loch near the Mishnish Lochs. Being on an island with a turbulent maritime climate, the whisky is influenced by sea air, island vegetation and the surrounding environment — which gives the spirit certain character traits.
The site uses traditional tools (e.g., mash-tun, copper stills) and has a relatively small-batch artisan approach compared to huge industrial distilleries.
The Tobermory 12 Year Old is matured in ex-bourbon American oak casks as the principal maturation vessel and possibly in virgin oak as well
